We follow ‘Speed Limit’ to some of the most wonderful places; most of their holidays and any venues where they are performing within a reasonable distance from us. We have met so many nice people through their gigs and made lots of good friends. By way of a change this story is not a venue report, but we think it ought to be told as it does involve many friends and followers of country music. Tony and Angie organised a barbeque for a group of their Country Music friends at Tony’s flying club in Chatteris near March (AAA Microlights) and kindly asked Annie and me if we would like to join them. We were delighted to say yes and arrived around five o’clock. It was a perfect evening for an event of this type. The weather was sublime, not a breath of wind and just the right temperature. Tee-shirts and shorts were the order of the day. When we arrived, we were met by some old friends and familiar faces. I was introduced to Chris who is the Chief Flying Instructor at AAA Microflights and is the person who taught Tony to fly. Tony and Angie’s friends Pat and his wife Sheila were there also. Pat flies a flex-wing mircrolight as opposed to Tony’s fixed wing plane which is a CTSW. Gina and Ray from Ipswich, Pete and Sue from Lincolnshire and Ron and Sonia aka Mr and Mrs Bean were there also. All Country Music followers, it was just as well, the music being played was Country Music CD’s. I asked Sonia where Mr Bean was and she pointed to the sky and said “up there with Tony”. While we waited for them to land Angie made us tea and coffee and gave us copious portions of hot pie consisting of corned beef, potato and onion which she had made, followed by fairy cakes which she had also made. Delicious. We sat talking in the warm summer sun for a while then Pat asked Ray if he would like a trip in his flex wing. Of course he said yes.
Sheila helped Angie with the barbecue and tea/coffee making, also the dreaded washing-up.
It was Gina’s turn next to be taken for a flight with Tony. Emma, Jackie and her partner Graham all from Dereham area arrived to swell the numbers, and Angie got the barbeque going. Chris asked if I would like a trip in his fixed wing which is a C42. What could I say !! I had waited a lifetime to fly in one. While we were up over March Town he let me take the controls. Such a thrill !! Chris and Pat are really nice people who sure know how to please. After twenty minutes of sheer pleasure we landed and Chris then took Annie for a trip. She loved it. Her face was a picture when she got out of the plane. The barbeque was now ready and we all stuffed ourselves with burgers, sausages and onions, also lamb kebabs all supplied by Tony and Angie. After the food nobody was left out. Everyone who wanted a flight got one. How we all laughed when Graham (who is a big man), had trouble getting into Pat’s flex-wing. He had his feet dangling out when they were taxiing to the runway, but Pat soon told him to put his feet in the aircraft because with feet that size it would slow the aircraft down if he left them out. Those of us who had been up sat around discussing the Country Music scene and our up and coming trip with ‘Speed Limit’ to Fuengirola in October. An evening never to be forgotten. Thanks to Tony and Angie (an “A” class act in so many ways). Also thank you to Chris, Pat and Sheila, in fact everyone there who made it a special event, never to be forgotten. A report by George and Annie Spicer gwspicer@btinternet.com Our next social venture with ‘Speed Limit’ is an evening at Buckden Marina on 9th September where Andy (Country Cowboy) is the chef. There are at least 32 of us going. If you would like to be included in any of the future gatherings get in touch with Angie speed.limit@sky.com

Jackie and I would just like to say Thank you to everyone who attended our charity dance on Friday 16th. We had a great turnout of people, many travelled a long distance to be there. Tony and Angie done 3 fantastic sets and as always kept the dance floor full all night and Angie entertained everyone with jokes.
Thank you to Tom and Christine for running the tops or tails competition in the first break to win a Bear, this alone raised £50.
We had a large Raffle in the second break, Every prize in the raffle had been donated over the past few months. We also had a number draw where people had the chance to win either a bottle of whisky or archers, both sheets were filled during the night so we had 2 lucky winners.
Thanks to the generosity of people on the night we raised a grand total of £505.47 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. We hope to hold a similar event again next year.

I'm sure you could tell how much everyone enjoyed themselves when they wouldn't let you leave the stage! Thank you also to Tom and Christine and Em for your lovely comments on this page, it's greatly appreciated. We have had so much positive feedback this past week but one member's comments really sum it all up so I'd like to pass this one in particular on to you: “fabulous night, it’s always more like a party when we have Speed Limit here”. So thanks again Tony and Angie for a great ‘party’. | | | | | |

What a magnificent club we always enjoy visiting knowing it will be a most enjoyable and friendly evening.
Many folk commented on and enjoyed the number of new songs you performed and many of us are now committed to trying to learn the associated dances. From a personal perspective we were delighted to see Tony once again perform almost a solo on his steel, always a pleasure to hear and watch in admiration his skill set and also of course to hear many of our long standing favourite Speed Limit songs interspersed with the new ones. Thanks
A number of us happened to have Sunday lunch at the same venue yesterday and discussed the evening, your new / upgraded high quality sound system, the new portfolio delivery system and all agreed we thought it was very much crisper and highlighted many of the individual instruments improving the pleasure of listening without radically changing the Speed Limit characteristic “Country Music Sound” we have all grown to love and appreciate. Certainly I do not have the knowledge or experience to be as critical as you two but I guess you will have identified some more enhancements available to meet your exacting standards.
Yet another evening for the memory bank, we enjoyed your company Emma and were pleased to see many folk we have met on your holidays and around the circuit.
Many thanks, speak to you both soon, Tom and Christine

It was a pleasure to meet so many happy folk intent on enjoying an evening of Country Music adance as well as welcoming us to join their Charity evening to raise funds in aid of the Essex Air Ambulance for which £50-00 was accumulated. It was unfortunate that so many local events clashed that evening so the numbers were down a bit for such a worthy cause. The more we listen to the recent additions to your repertoire of songs the more we enjoy them knowing you have at your fingertips some more firm favourites for years to come and are of course delighted that Tony now demonstrates overtly his steel skills during his solo spot in one of the songs - brilliant to listen to and watch a skilled musician at work. Thanks everyone for memorable evening, Tom and Christine
In addition an update and an apology if I may: • Update: With considerable help from Tudor and yesterday Andy KIng I am progressing well with the English Language line dance steps to your new song “No More You”. • A typo in my last input should have been Kelly’s Cannibals !! Maybe it is an age problem.

| | Date: | Sat 24 Apr 2010 15:42:46 BST | | Subject: | Rogers Rebels Charity Dance raises funds for PHAB | | | The Annual Charity Dance of our Rogers Rebels Western Dance Club took place last Saturday evening 17th April at Orwell Village Hall in Cambridgeshire with this year’s Charity being the Cambridge Physically Handicapped Able Bodied (PHAB) Club. We adopted PHAB as our chosen charity at our AGM earlier this year and have a programme of activities to help support the transport requirements of the PHAB members. Mick Richmond, our chairman, arranged to bring a number of the PHAB members to attend the dance. The guest country music act for the evening were Black Stetson a well established duo who had not visited our club for some 9 years as they recalled and proceeded to provide an evening of country music for the line and partner dancers to enjoy with a repertoire of traditional songs and current favourites including; Fly like a Bird, Billy Be Bad, Fields of Athenry, Six days on the Road, Hill Billy Rock, Vertical Expression, Midnight Cowboy, Galway Girl, Cold, Cold Heart, Angel of No Mercy, Kelly’s Cannonballs, finishing with their encore Amazed.
In addition Black Stetson introduced two of their guests, Denny Gray and Big Ron Tee to take a two song slot in their second and third sets respectively and in so doing provided a contrasting evening of artist styles.
The fund raising activities included a well supported Raffle, Tops and Tails with help from James a PHAB club member and a Find the buried treasure board game matrix won by Andy King. It was an absolute pleasure to seen PHAB members participating during the evening and winning some prizes in the raffle.
The evening raised and donated £471-50 was to the PHAB club prior to the third live music set and was received by Michael their spokesperson who thanked everyone most sincerely; confirmed the PHAB club now has to be self supporting and the funds raised would all be used for buses to transport members who needed help to and from meetings, caravan weekender holidays, caravan upkeep and rentals as well as club insurances. PHAB was most appreciative of the RRWDC generous support.
A most beneficial evening in all possible respects was had by everyone enjoying a lot of fun, laughter and Country Music.

The live act this week at the Braza Club was Steve Scott’s Changes who we considered to be a duo of excellent musicians with strong vocals who really enjoy their playing as well as helping and pleasing the audience with an afternoon of “Country Music”. We were particularly impressed with Mike Norton’s brilliant guitar skills which appeared to almost make the instrument talk, the minimal chat between numbers and musical arrangements to maintain the tempo whilst enabling a unique sound for the duo. We thoroughly enjoyed an afternoon of fine country music from a number of decades which included among many others; Set One – Just to see you smile, Waltz across Texas, Sea of Heartbreak, Billy be Bad and Where you gonna go Set Two – Past the point of Rescue, Smoke rings in the Dark, Rolling with the Flow, Hole in my Pocket and The Hand that Rocks the Cradle Set Three – Would you go with me, Cowboy and a Dancer, Walk the line revisited, God must be a Cowboy and for their encore – Drinking Champagne. J and C provided some music between the live act sessions and of course conducted their regular in between entertainment of the Irish Bingo, a Raffle, Door prize and Club member attendance prize draw.
Another fine afternoon of Country Music at the Braza Club in March, Cambridgeshire, thoroughly enjoyed by all those present and predictably very well managed for our collective pleasure by Jenny and Clarence.

| | Date: | Fri 16 Apr 2010 12:45:49 BST | | Subject: | Texas Rebels / Rogers Rebels demonstration at Cambridge PHAB Club | | | We had been looking forward to Friday April 9th so that we could join our friends and Western Dance Club colleagues to provide an evening of Partner and Line dance demonstrations at the Hester Adrian Centre in Cambridge for members of the Physically Handicapped Able Bodied (PHAB) Club. This is a regular event for us all and provides an evening of fun and entertainment for the members some of whom are unable to get out as much as they would like or indeed are able.
The evening comprised a demonstration of 7 partner dances interspersed with 7 line dances and incluing in the break a fund raising raffle and a presentation of a £110-00 cheque to help PHAB club funds and importantly to help towards associated transport for club members. Wilf, Molly and Paula Thomas and Mick Richmond from our clubs who are regular helpers at the PHAB Club and Don Jeffries, Rogers Rebels President presented the cheque to Joyce Mitchell who gave us a short speech of appreciation emphasising how much pleasure these evenings give to the club members.
Both Texas Rebels / Rogers Rebels Western Dance Clubs have this year adopted The Physically Handicapped Able Bodied (PHAB) Club in Cambridge as our chosen charity and have arranged various fund raising initiatives for this year and the future. We would welcome any original ideas from Speed Limit friends to help our clubs raise funds for this worthy cause. Please feel free to e-mail us direct if appearing on the web-site worries you. Many thanks.
The entertainment was well received and appreciated with many members joining in with singing and clapping before a Barn Dance to end an evening of fun, laughter and the memory of many happy smiling faces as we all left for home.

The extension to our Swindon holiday was for us perfect thanks to your help and information plus some pointers from your sister Lynn. Resulting from your help we visited Avebury, stayed in Devizes, spent a day in Lacock the National Trust Village, walked the many locks(50) along the Avon and Kennet canal in Devizes, did a tour of the White Horses of Wiltshire and only failed to see one near Marlborough. We found a pub which did great meals in Seend before travelling home via Banbury where our eldest son Karl lives and then back in time for the Line / Partner dance demonstration for the Physically Handicapped Able Bodied (PHAB) Club in Cambridge which following a suggestion at our AGM we have adopted as our chosen charity.
Our thanks to everyone for the great friendship and conversations experienced during the holiday. Hope to see you all again soon, Tom and Christine

This duo comprise Chris Harris as singer / songwriter playing Acoustic and Electric guitars and Jimmy Martin giving vocal support as well as playing Pedal Steel Guitar, Electric Guitar and Fiddle. These two very talented musicians played a very diverse selection of Country Music all evening, interacted well with the audience, provided an extensive playlist of excellently performed country music to listen and dance to with suggestions, on occasion, from Chris as to line / partner dances that matched the more unusual songs. Rick and Chris taught a dance in the first break and helped ensure continuity throughout the evening thanking the duo for an evening of well presented Country Music. We really enjoyed a rare evening for us at Haddenham these days due, as we explained we support our club dance dates which often clash, always a dilemma. At the end of the evening we decided this is another duo for us to definitely look out for on the circuit for a whole evening of Country Music.

We lost count of the number of times we set off for the down-town 10 minute walk to the coffee / ice cream / pastry shops and arrived about two hours later having had so many friendly conversations about everything under the sun on the way. We really appreciated the friendship of everyone we met and chatted to over the two weeks. Our thanks to Tony and Angie for yet another memorable Country Music holiday experience in Portugal; the pleasure and fun we all have on all your holidays has to be experienced to really understood. We appreciated the helpful comments and suggestions regarding the Speed Limit holiday reports we compile and submit to various places. We have just completed the first draft of a report on this holiday and tried to include your ideas. As I said in Portugal please let me know what you think!! All comments will be welcomed and appreciated. We returned to the cold and cloudy UK with, we quote a friends opinion –“a healthy glow on our bronzed faces” and once again with many happy memories to recall in years to come. We now look forward to the “White Horse” week-end in the Swindon Marriott Hotel at Easter and later in the year another “Fun in the Sun” carnival week in Fuengirola, Spain where we hope to meet up again with many Country Music friends old and new. Numbers were down a bit this week due to the early morning snowfall but those who made it were treated to an afternoon of superb entertainment including a wide cross section of songs and instrumentals to suit all lovers of Country Music and also provide many opportunities to for the Partner, Line and Free style dancers to take to the floor and listeners to sit back and admire. A sample of the wide ranging playlist included the following numbers; Silver Wings, Neon Moon, Twinkle, Twinkle Lucky Star, She’s my runaway Mama. Farmers Daughter, Past the point of rescue, Rolling with the flow, It’s amazing, Plane from Birmingham, Rose Coloured Glasses and many more packed into an afternoon of non-stop Country Music including many songs we have to say we heard for the first time live. For us, Bob on the Steel Guitar was absolutely first class and an absolute pleasure to listen to. The distinctive style of Kalibre always guarantees in our opinion excellent musicianship coupled with an interesting and most enjoyable Country Music playlist. We look forward to seeing Kalibre again at the “White Horse” Swindon Marriott holiday with Tony and Angie and many of you next week in Portugal. Let us all help to “Keep it Country”

| | Date: | Mon 15 Feb 2010 10:46:58 GMT | | Subject: | Rogers Rebels Western Dance Club Valentine Dance | | | The first dance of this year’s program at Orwell Village Hall brought a new and emerging face in Country Music scene to the club in the form of “Big Ron Tee” who gave us a most enjoyable evening with a playlist that ensured that the Partner and Line dancers were on the dance floor and the listeners enjoyed Ron’s traditional country music style reminiscent in our opinion of the early days of Country Music. Ron gave us three well planned sets comprising traditional and recent popular songs to suit every taste.
A selection of the music presented for each sets included; Set 1 – Waltz across Texas, Mr Man in the Moon, Cowboy and a Dancer, A Good Hearted Woman and Billy be Bad Set 2 – Restless, All my Ex’s live in Texas, Rolling with the Flow, Louisiana Way, and Hill-Billy Rock Set 3 – Toes, Crazy, My Forever Friend, Galway Girls, Adalida and She believes in me and Six days on the Road. A nice and unusual touch by Ron and his wife Mary was the presentation of a Valentine Day chocolate favor to everyone in the hall during the third set.
Between the second and third sets Ron’s wife Mary presented the club with a personally made and most delicately decorated “Crafted Rhea Egg” depicting a Western Cowboy Scene which was offered for auction and raised £30-00 for the Physically Handicapped Able Bodied (PHAB) Club in Cambridge. A most enjoyable evening for everyone present with a considerate music system volume level coupled with excellent dance floor etiquette.

A small sample of the numbers performed for us all included; Set 1 - Lovers Live Longer, Home to Donegal, 18 Yellow Roses, Fields of Athenry and California Blues. Set 2 - Blue Moon of Kentucky, Twinkle Twinkle Lucky Star, The Tennessee Border, Sea of Heartbreak, Welcome to my World and a number of Gospel songs.
Thank you Johnny for a most enjoyable evening, a fine playlist; the Irish numbers I particularly enjoyed – maybe my Irish Grandmothers influence- and your attention to audience interaction, the friendly conversations as well as playing many requests and dedications throughout the evening.
Following a chat with Mrs Day during the evening she confirmed that she was definitely retiring at the end of March 2010 after some 26 years arranging and managing entertainment events at Brook House including Country Music , Irish Music and Tea dances which took place on Friday’s, Saturday’s and Sunday’s with occasional events on Tuesdays. We have had some magnificent times at Brook House over the years including a family party and often recall our very first Country Music visit there when we were given the last two seats available in the extension to the main room so it has been rather sad to observe attendances gradually reducing over the last few years.
Having spoken to many people who have been to Brook House over the years to enjoy an evening of Country Music may we personally and on behalf of many of our friends wish Mrs Day a very happy time in her retirement. We shall all miss the great times at Brook House but be left with many happy memories. For us it is sad to know another Country Music venue will no longer be with us adding to the end of Stowbridge and Histon in recent times.
May we offer a heartfelt plea to “Keep It Country” and please support the Country Music clubs!!
We look forward to seeing many of our friends in Portugal for the Speed Limit holiday; only a few days to go before we all board the planes!!

| | Date: | Mon 08 Feb 2010 16:51:26 GMT | | Subject: | Christmas at the Marriott | | | Hi All, just stumbled across the forum, so thought we'd add our five pence worth too. We had a lovely time again at the Marriott for the three days between Christmas and New Year. As always we were warmly greeted by Angie and Tony, how do they remember everyones name, and made to feel so welcome from the word go. It was their music that first inspired us to join them on one of their holidays, we enjoyed it so much that we've attended several more since. Just being talented musicians doesn't appear to be enough for them either, they make sure that everyone is welcome and included in the fun too. There always seems to be a nucleas of friendly faces to add to the enjoyment and experience, while resident DJ, Andy, somehow manages to accommodate any request we might have. Well done too Andy on your fund raising, what an achievement indeed. Have to confess that prior to going on our first Holiday with them we were worried that dancing for seven nights continuously would dilute our enjoyment of music and dancing, happily that doesn't appear to be the case at all. We are so looking forward to Portugal at the end of the month and keeping our fingers crossed that the sun will grace us with it's presence for some of the time. Would it be too much to expect a repeat of last year when it shone for the whole seven days! | | | | | |

| | Date: | Mon 08 Feb 2010 16:18:46 GMT | | Subject: | An evening at Hiams, Prockwillow | | | Hi everyone, this weekend we visited Hiams Sports and Social Club in Prickwillow near Ely with many of our friends from Texas Rebels to see “Plain Loco” perform at one of Marion Scott’s long established Country Music and Line Dance events. We arrived early expecting a good attendance for Plain Loco as we had seen a them recently and enjoyed their performance although some previous events we had attended at Hiams had been rather sparsely attended so it was a pleasure to see so many folk including many of our Country Music friends from distant locations arriving to almost fill the hall.
Plain Loco gave us an entertaining evening comprising a wide variety of songs to suit all tastes and ensuring the Line Dancers filled the dance floor with their enthusiasm for many of the latest as well as a good variety of the well established numbers. The first set gave us among others; Carbo San Lucas, My Veronica, A Cowboy and a Dancer, Toes, Stop the World and Eagles Rock. The second set; Laid back in Low key, Would you go with me, No more Cloudy days, Why don’t we just dance, Seven nights to Rock and Billy be Bad. The final set bringing among others; Lovin all night, Memories, Moonlight kiss, Rollin with the flow, High Class lady, Galway Girls and Going through Hell before finishing with Somebody like you.
Billy Bob kept the line dancers in full flow on the floor in the breaks between the live music sets pleasing the many dancers with some upbeat numbers. A most enjoyable evening with the Hiams large dance floor able to accommodate the many dancers which coupled with the bar and food availability ensured everyone went home with a smile.
Our thanks to Marion and Bob for another enjoyable evening.

| | Date: | Tue 02 Feb 2010 20:10:00 GMT | | Subject: | A great Country Music weekend | | | Hi everyone, we have just completed another most enjoyable weekend of country music and Line / Partner dancing with so many of our friends who we know from comments heard feel the same way and make tremendous efforts to support local western dance clubs in our neck of the woods.
We would love to hear your comments regarding your experiences of the Country Music scene, favourite artist performances and issues of the moment for many of you on this web-site. There is no need to be shy / concerned or reluctant to contribute to this site as you are among friends and it is always nice / good / helpful / constructive to hear other people’s opinions and perspectives. Everyone we know in the Country Music scene is always friendly and appreciative of our collective likes and dislikes so may we ask you to make a start and submit views to the web-site. Thanks.
Friday evening took us to Andy Kings (Country Cowboy) monthly Country Music disco at Reed Village Hall just south of Royston in Hertfordshire. Everyone who regularly goes there says it is always a great evening of fun, dancing and conversation with so many enthusiastic dancers and friends attending.
Andy has an in-depth knowledge of everyone’s favourite dances, plays the associated CD track and also includes in his playlist those Line Dances he has recently taught at his classes including a very fast lively dance that he may teach at one of Tony and Angie’s upcoming holidays. There were so many tracks / dances that we knew and Andy thought we should dance to that we had a very energetic evening and realised that our partner dancing which we thoroughly enjoy is not such a concentrated fitness regime as an evening of Line Dancing. How our feet and legs ached Saturday morning. Maybe it is just age!!
Finally may we let you know that Andy’s sponsored diet to raise funds for “Cancer Research” is now complete and there is a special presentation evening planned for Friday 19th February at Reed Village Hall starting at 7-30 p.m.
Saturday evening took us just down the road to Stotfold where Debbie and Claire run the magnificently organised and friendly Stotfold Stompers Club. Jim Worton was the guest artist for the evening and was on top form, impeccably dressed which was appreciated and pleasing the dancers and listeners throughout the evening with a varied and very well balanced playlist including among many others - In the first set; Woman, Good Ole Boys, Guitars Cadillac’s and Hill Billy Music, Carbo San Lucas, Ride the River and I just wanna dance with you In the second set ; Come dance with me, Home to Louisiana, Past the Point of Rescue, Billy Be Bad, Tougher than the Rest, She believes in me and Restless In the final set; Take a Breather, Amazed, Going Through Hell, Tempted, Always late with your kisses and a very innovative and brilliant performance on Mandolin of the Galway Girls supported by his own personally designed and developed multi-instrument backing track. Well received and much admired. Jim has always been one of our short list of favourite artists / musicians ever since we first joined the Country Music scene, and still is someone we will always make the effort to go and see if he is performing within a reasonable distance from Cambridge. We always enjoy an evening with Jim and we always enjoy his vocal performances as well as watch and admire his guitar playing style and skills. Thanks Jim, our pleasure to see you again. Thanks also to Debbie and Claire for another fabulous evening at Stotfold. We look forward to meeting you all again when Speed Limit visit you on 22nd May 2010.
Sunday afternoon brought our favourite Country Music attraction to J and C Sunday Country at one of our favourite venues the Braza Club in March, Cambridgeshire in the form of our friends and yours , Tony and Angie.
What a great pleasure for us to meet and talk with so many of our Country Music scene friends made at numerous, far too many to recall at my age, Speed Limit performances, Speed Limit UK holidays, Country Music Clubs and Festivals across the UK and holidays in Europe plus of course those many friends we see regularly at the Braza Club.
Tony – with the very smart new black, red-flash trimmed, sophisticated jacket – giving a splendid performance on the steel all the afternoon and with a very impressive Angie in fine voice, both on top form giving a superb performance that included many references of appreciation to those individuals who have helped them so much through the years and many dedications of songs for some folk present who they had not seen for many years, some who had travelled many miles to be there for a Sunday afternoon; the furthest as far as we could tell was our friend Larry, co-choreographer of the Making Believe dance travelling all the way from Exeter. If I may say so there were many typically touching and appreciative statements from Angie and Tony that were very well received in all respects.
There were many happy smiling faces throughout the afternoon among the Listeners, Line, Partner and Free-style dancers with a wide variety of familiar and new dances being performed on a full dance floor. The play list for the afternoon was flexed to specifically please some unexpected friends from many miles away and included among others; In the first set - Battle Hymn of Love, Smokey Places, Mercury Blues, Making Believe, Blue Rose Is and Little Jolena. In the shorter second set - The Wild Wood Rose, Ride the River, Dreaming my Dreams, Millie and That what Boots are for. In the third set – Just to see you smile, Suds in the Bucket, Louisiana Hot Sauce, C’est la Vie, Nowhere train, Memories of Us, Mr Man in the Moon and the traditional encore of Voices of the Highlands. Another most enjoyable afternoon for us, we were on our feet most of the time so our apologies to our many friends we did not spend as much time with as we intended and perhaps should have. We look forward to correcting that concern in Portugal, Swindon or Spain later in the year. The Speed Limit Portugal Country Music holiday and all that anticipated the sunshine will soon be with us at the end of February. We missed the USA, Fort Worth Holiday but reading George and Annie’s account and discussing with many who went you all had a great time and had many memorable experiences.
Finally many thanks once again for another fabulous afternoon of Country Music to Jenny, Clarence, Tony and Angie.
Let us all do our very best to “Keep It Country!”

| | Date: | Tue 26 Jan 2010 21:16:50 GMT | | Subject: | Recent Country Music gig visits | | | Following all the disruption to travelling and the cancellation of many Country Music events caused by the snow all over the country it was a pleasure to rejoin the scene and visit Clarence and Jenny at the Braza Club in March, Cambridgeshire for their Sunday Country afternoons.
First up on stage following the weather enforced break on Sunday 17th January were Plain Loco who we had not seen before. The duo made a great, and we are sure, lasting impression with a very varied and interesting playlist keeping the floor busy all afternoon with Country Music from over the years up to the latest favourites including; Cabo San Lucas, Cowboy and a Dancer, Eagles Rock, Rhinestone Cowboy, She believes in me, Moonlight Kiss, Blue Moon of Kentucky , Toes, Mexicali and Rolling with the Flow before performing Galway Girls and Memories in their floor requested encores. We thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and performance from Plain Loco and have checked out future gigs scheduled for our area.
Sunday 24th January having followed a convoy of heavy lorries all the way from Ely, we live south of Cambridge, we arrived late at the Braza Club for Jenny and Clarence’s Sunday Country and were not surprised to find the car park packed knowing how popular Fools Gold are whenever and wherever they appear. We were lucky to find two of the remaining 5 chairs just before the start of the first set. The afternoon promised to be entertaining and turned out to be for us a magnificent performance by Fools Gold for their audience throughout the afternoon with so many favourite songs for the listeners, the Line and partner dancers and the free-style dancers. Three requested encores clearly shows the pleasure given to everyone present.
The events of the afternoon were in our opinion a salutary lesson for a small minority present in the Country Music scene these days. We have recently been very concerned and to some degree a little irritated regarding some of the negative comments and correspondence circulating in the Country Music scene at present and were so pleased that this particular afternoon was another fine example of a first class duo playing to an absolutely full house of listeners and dancers all enjoying an afternoon in harmony and adhering to the “Country Music dance floor etiquette” we personally were taught all those years ago by Andy King, Dave Titchmarsh and as always happens at Tony and Angie’s gigs and holidays.
Maybe we should all try to encourage the apparent detractors of our beloved Country Music to take a more positive approach to protect and enhance the “Country Music Scene” and respect the many and varied viewpoints.
Congratulations are in order for Clarence and Jenny for their stewardship of this exemplar of a successful Country Music Club.
From our perspective may we offer sincere thanks to Fools Gold and Jenny and Clarence for a great day.
Finally - Speed Limit are appearing at the J%26C Sunday Country at the Braza Club this next weekend 31st January - We look forward to meeting and greeting many of you there on the day. Another full house is expected so we must start out earlier this week.

We hope to see many of you very soon at the Country Music Portugal holiday and the White Horse Easter Country Music weekend at the Marriott in Swindon with Tony and Angie. Both holiday's are not far away now!!
